Compaq Big Band
They say all good things must come to an end... True. But, you might as well go out on a high note. Actually, make it a LOT of high notes! Which is precisely what the Compaq Big Band will do on Thursday June 14th for our last gig ever at Ryles Jazz Club before they close their doors this summer. None other than jazz trumpet virtuoso Wayne Bergeron will be our very special Guest Artist! And if that wasn’t enough, alumna Feature Vocalist Lauren Meehan Machos returns to guest in, too!
Ryles has been one of the preeminent jazz venues in the Boston area for over 40 years - our home away from home for our great concert chart book. Wonderful acoustics, an up close and personal experience with the performers, along with great food, drinks, and staff. Like everyone, we’re sad to see it go, but this event will be all about celebrating the big bands that have graced that stage, including Maynard Ferguson for his 75th birthday party.
The show will begin at 9:00 PM. Tickets are $20 per person. This event will surely sell out quickly, so please purchase tickets on-line now at www.rylesjazz.com.
Ryles will take table seating reservations for parties of six or more only, after on-line ticket purchase by calling the club at 617.876.9330. All other seating is strictly General Admission, and everyone should get there early for best seat selection. Ryles is located in Inman Square at 212 Hampshire Street in Cambridge, MA. They have a full bar and Mitch’s BBQ cuisine, plus there are many other food options within a short walk of the club.
We’ll do charts that night arranged from Wayne’s big band, plus selections from the books of Maynard Ferguson, Sammy Nestico, Buddy Rich, Chris Walden, Gordon Goodwin, Count Basie, and more. Lauren will be killin’ vocals out front from Ella, Diane Schuur, and Tierney Sutton, to mention just a few.
Surely a night to recognize what Ryles has meant to all of us, with a World Class Guest Artist, phenomenal singer, and a pretty darned good band ;)
